Inspiration:

“Paintings, people really don't understand. They don't really get paintings. Quilts they do understand because everybody has a quilt in their house.” —Faith Ringgold

Quilts have been part of humanity since ancient times. They are symbolic of community, memory, and storytelling. The quilted paper collages connect the past and the present, echoing the human experience. The squares are better understood as a group and in their entirety. Though the quilts are personal in nature, they are not particularly unique.

This patchwork series features handmade monoprinted papers crafted from materials such as cassette tapes, hair combs, discarded soda cans found on the street, and jeans. Other found papers include failed paintings, old maps, wrapping paper, sheet music, book pages, ledgers, old biology books, cardboard, and sunprints. Everything can be reclaimed to create a narrative.

Details: This is a 12×12-inch original mixed-media abstract on a wood cradle board. This piece is signed on the front, varnished, and sealed with a resin wax finish. Artwork will arrive wired and ready to hang.

Shipping: I currently ship via FedEx Ground within the continental USA and Canada. If you are outside these areas, please contact me to see about shipping options available to your location.

You may also select free local studio pickup at my Santa Rosa, California studio at checkout. In addition, I offer free Local drop-off, which may be available at checkout if you are within a 20-mile radius of my studio.
